Shane is a lifelong resident of New Iberia. He received his undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, from LSU in 1995. He then received his Juris Doctorate degree from Southern University Law Center in 1998.
After law school, Shane returned New Iberia to serve as a judicial law clerk for the 16th Judicial District Court, Div. G (Judge Charles L. Porter) before going into private practice in 1999. Shane has appeared in numerous courts throughout Louisiana, though most of his work is concentrated in the Acadiana area. He has represented clients in personal injury cases, family law cases, criminal cases, and numerous business and civil litigation cases.
Shane has been appointed as special legal counsel to represent Iberia Parish Government in state and federal court for numerous personal injury cases, including train accidents, road and bridge design defects, wrongful death and premise liability lawsuits. Shane has also been appointed as special legal counsel for the Louisiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission and as a special assistant attorney general to represent Louisiana in personal injury, auto accident and employment cases. In addition, Shane served as an assistant public defender in St. Martin Parish (16th Judicial District Court and Breaux Bridge City Court).
Shane is licensed to practice in all Louisiana state courts, the United States Supreme Court, United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, United States Middle District of Louisiana, United States Eastern District of Louisiana and the Chitimacha Tribal Court.
